What if Lincoln Returned in Time for the Election?

I started writing this book about ten years ago. I wanted to explore what Abraham Lincoln's reincarnation might look like. How would he feel about the country he tried to save and died for? This required reaching back into his life and attempting to channel his thoughts and emotions. Lincoln was a complex man. We lionize him to mythical proportions. He was a great man, but he was also a human.

While reconstructing Lincoln, there was the concurrent task of bringing to life the woman who would host this president’s memories and yet have her own life to share. A choreography between past and present that is believable requires exposing vulnerabilities. To bring Sharmila Stone to life, it also needed historical research to place her character within a contemporary time period—the present.

Little did I realize that when I finished the book, it was arriving during one of the nation’s most contentious election cycles. Still, what better time to launch a book than now, when critical thinking requires each voter to assess their candidate through a lens of logic, facts, and putting aside emotions?

“Lincoln’s Return” is not just a captivating novel. It’s an engaging voyage that challenges conventional wisdom and offers a fresh perspective on the past to illuminate the path forward.
